Is it normal that anti-gunners think criminals are genetic supermen?

Anti-gunners say, "the criminal will just take the gun away from you and shoot you with it."
Aside from the groveling, wretched cowardice that this argument bespeaks in the person who employs it, why do so many anti-gunners think your average street criminal is some kind of Greek god, with reflexes so lightning-fast he will be able to take, say, my gun - which would be a SURPRISE to him, as I only carry concealed - away from me when I'm MOVING AWAY from him and am doing my damnedest to stay out of reach of his hands? (In reality, a criminal is seldom the "sharpest tool in the shed" - and he's looking for what he thinks is an easy target - NOT a challenge. He's more of a SCAVENGER, than a hunter!)
Also, is you average cop some kind of Khan-from-Star-Trek genetic superman who's better qualified to defend ME, than I myself am? I'm in excellent physical shape and practice under-stress shooting w/timed combat reloads regularly, unlike so many beer-bellied doughnut eaters in patrol cars who may only go to the range a couple times a year to qualify. (Many cops *but not all* ARE like that! But never mind that, THEY are "professionals" and therefore only THEY are qualified to defend themselves - and ME - against those mighty, Zeus-like criminals, right?)

    Europe has a lot more home invasion robberies than the U.S. because they know they're not likely to be shot. A town in Florida had a rape epidemic until the local police encouraged women to arm themselves and offered training. Rape isn't worth being shot. Washington, D.C. and Chicago saw their crime rates soar when they passed laws announcing to criminals that citizens didn't have a right to defend themselves. This past Wednesday, 8/18/10 at 10:30 PM in Harrisburg, PA, a 40-year old man was delivering food and was grabbed, punched in the face and beaten with a glass bottle. He drew a gun, fired once and got one of his assailants in the shoulder. 16 years old. They both ran and the police looking for the other one. In most cases (a vast majority), people like this will run once they know their intended victim is armed, a shot is seldom even fired and it's very rare for the assailant to be killed.

    The anti-gun movement is a religious movement spun off from the United Methodist Church back in the 1960s so they wouldn't lose their tax exempt status, but it's a regression to an older European legal standard. Saving your life or another's, or defending your property didn't matter. If the assailant was killed, you were guilty of murder and could be hanged. Google up "anti-gun Methodist" if you don't believe me.

    I live in Canada and we prefer to stab each other more than shoot each other, but we still, per capita, have a lot of guns. Weird hey?

    I'm a mellow, peaceful woman, and I plan on owning a gun (or two), especially if we buy a home in the country next year. The main reason would be to protect myself from wild animals (if they are a threat to my safety). The second reason would be to protect myself from other humans. When you live in remote areas, there police can't get to you that quickly, you need to have your own lethal protection. I may get through my entire life and never have to use it, but I think it would be stupid not to own at least a rifle or a shotgun. Machine guns and other guns specifically made to kill a lot of humans belong only in the hands of professionally trained individuals - not children.

    I've never met anyone else who's "anti-gunner", but I've seen them on TV. Maybe they're lumping all guns and all people who have guns in the same dirty pile.

    LOL no im not a thug and a "gang" isnt exacly in my style a gang is pretty much just another way of saying im too small to mess with you but iv got my gang so im still gonna win which is just a pussy way of living
    and im not meaning a thug those arent real killers there just pricks who pull a trigger

    a killer had the killer instinct and will look you in the face while they kill them and can do it all on there own
    while thugs cant do fuck all on there own and rely on there "hommies" to help them

      That's an interesting observation, ItDuz. And I think you're right in one important way. A true killer/badass isn't likely to be a street thug or gangbanger - he's probably going to be some Special Ops type, or maybe a highly professional contract killer. Such guys are typically quiet and "low-profile" unless you deliberately provoke them. Someone like that, I'm unlikely to get crossways of.
      The type of garbage that I, or another armed citizen is most likely to encounter in the course of our lives will likely be a "thug" type - not too bright, full of assumptions like "hey, that guy is old he must be easy" and full of unwarranted, pompous, flatulent self-esteem. In other words, a shitbag (or shitbags) - who a well-prepared and determined armed citizen should be able to defeat.

      Statistically peaking - thugs tend to get lose when they fuck with an armed victim. Read up on the subject!
