Is it normal that an ascetic doesn't watch television?
Okey dokey (I hate to sound too informal). Ladies and gentlemen, I like telly 12%, I calculated how I underdid (not more than necessary) something for a change, no one ever said I did something too little. I obviously underwatched television, I didn't overdo it. I got bored of sitting watching telly all day, and I was always more of a radio person. 61 Amsterdam Cr, Salisbury Downs, South Australia, I had enough of the Bible and I switched on the dingy telly (not the TV you like), a PAL system, 10 minutes of something good, then it was getting anti-Semite on me (I'm not a Semite, but the TV alluded to Jews), it sounded top thumbs down, wanted to kick the TV and break it, instead I manually switched it off. I read a book, but it was boring, nothing good in the local paper, so I read the 'Penguin Book Of Firsts' and it was about precise self-important history. I was reading its ancient ascetic practices but all I saw was that ridiculous Cynic wearing a damaged cloak and showing off how little pleasure he was in some Greek plaza. I've done similar things, but I'm 98% anti-Cynical and people still bark at me like a pooch. Is it because I barked myself, or is it because I dress like Antisthenes, the master of love and no pleasure? Like ascetics before his time ultramodern ascetics are still doing ancient things, i.e, not watching television. TV is rubbish considering all that fiction, cartoons, and stuff isn't real and I know I had enough. I'm self-interested in necessity but not other-centred when I know I'm a decent guy. The point is I'm not talking about myself only, I'm talking about the fact that ascetics don't watch telly, is that normal?
