Is it normal that alprazolam screwed me than other hard drugs?
I had done like tons and tons of hard drugs (literally) esp acid and ecstacy and i knew i had changed due to its effects but i could still go about my daily activities effortlessly. This was 2 years ago.
In the December of 2009, i was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug that contained Alprazolam to overcome any withdrawal from drinking. Frankly speaking i had no anxiety and no withdrawal symptoms yet i started taking the med.
Pretty soon i was abusing it. I used to take around 2 mg in the mornings and go about my day and in the evenings i used to have around 6-8 pints of beer.
I was on the alprazolam for nearly 18 months and now i have been trying to stay off it. In the last 2 months i have only taken it on 3-4 social occasions/ weddings.
Currently i have become very anxious with thoughts and fears of death and other crap. All this started after i quit the drug and i realized that prescription medicines like Alprazolam are actually very addictive and dangerous.
My mind is kinda foggy and i have a train of thoughts running through my brain.I have also transformed from being the life of the party to anxious-about-going-out and meeting people.
Around about a year ago,i went and got a blood test, liver test and x-ray done and the doctor said i had nothing to worry about.
But after stopping this med i feel and panic that i should get an MRI scan or other higher order test to see if i have any brain or lung/heart damage.
Are these withdrawal effects common and how long are they gonna last considering i was on alprazolam for 18 months?
Thank you for your time.
