Is it normal that all my stories involve death ?

I'm a keen writer and write many novels and short stories in my free time. However, I always end up killing off a major character or causing them personal harm. I can't seem to write a happy story !

Maybe it's just your forte to write tragedy. Much like Shakespeare. Does your writing style suit stories like that? I myself like a good macabre tale and happily ever after stories sometimes are just unrealistic.

well you wright what you want to wright. right know you are inspired by the death factor in stories, it may change with time, it may not. as long as your story pleases you and your odience, there is nothing bad about it.

  • The best stories have a loss and pain in them.

Well you can't watch a TV drama these days without there being some kind of sick psycho-rapist-serial-killing. I'd say you're par for the course. Concentrate on making your characters complex, conflicted, and human. It'll make you a better writer.

Me too sort of... My main character always has a health issue

He was at a frat party in the mid 90's not feeling that well. People were outside on that night with really no breeze to speak of. Well his stomach wasn't right and he dropped a sulfur bomb hoping it wouldn't be detectable. People all around him suddenly were agitated. One even said "someone needs to change their diaper!" Good times
