Is it normal that a teenager gets a time out in the corner?
Recently I failed my chemistry test (barely) and I had lied about studying and my dad was ridiculously mad at me for it and yet he didn't even ground me, he just said that grounding didn't work anymore and he grabbed my arm and made me stand in the corner of the living room with my 'nose in the corner' for a long time. He didn't stay in the room but he walked around cleaning or something. Then after a long time he told me to go do homework. I don't think a 17-year-old girl should get corner time, it's juvenile. I am graduating this year but I am supposed to still live at home because we only live a few minutes from the college I am going to probably (hopefully) go to. But I don't want to stay here if I'm going to get "corner time" as a punishment any time I do something wrong! He says he wants to talk about it after dinner, and I am going to tell him that grounding does work and we should keep doing it (and promise to study more and all that)
Is it normal for a teenager to get time out like this?
