Is it normal that a man (gay) is turned on by the smell of vinegar?

This doesn't even matter that I am a gay man only that I would like input of other gay men. A while back, my boyfriend had a really bad sunburn on his shoulders and neck, so he rubbed apple cider vinegar into them. This is supposed to help with the burn. I walked up to him to embrace him from behind and was immediately repulsed by the stench... but at the same time got a raging boner. For some reason him smelling like vinegar turned me into an animal and I lost total control and fucked him so hard -- it was the best sex we had ever had. He just smelled so manly and stinky that it turned me on like never before. The smell doesn't have an effect on him, but he is definitely satisfied with the results. Is this normal to be turned on by something that smells so bad?
