Is it normal that a lot of people use this cool blog to just be mean?

When someone has a judgemental, anti-social, or ignorant opinion, I think it's fine to take them to task. If someone can take a joke, I think it's fine to have a joke with them.

But if someone has a genuine problem and plucks up the courage to ask, then bullying them here seems almost inhuman. Thankfully there is no way of commenting anonymously, so we can all see who is doing it. And we do not wish them well.

This person cant be referring to patties, they just cant be. Being a troll is my life's work. I am never mean or spiteful about it.

If you want serious answers coming onto the equivalent of a social networking site to find it isnt going to help you one bit. Therapy may, being here wont.

I agree. Sometimes people can't help themselves though, we all have off days but some people ask for it xD. I did make a story on here and some of the people assumed things about me that were not true. I just wanted advice and opinions. If someone doesn't add something into their story people shouldn't assume they know everything about them. If they think they might but aren't 100% then just go off the facts that were given.

Communication is 70% non verbal so there's a lot of times things can be misconstrued by the person writing a response or how someone else (the OP or any other user) interprets a response. Just because you interpret something one way, doesn't mean that's how it was meant or that everyone else reads it the same way you will. There's also quite a large international community here so sometimes the translations into English can get a bit mangled.

In all the months and months I've been here I can barely recall thinking any user, especially any of the regulars, was only here 'to be mean'. You've only just joined and already deduced 'a lot' are here for only that? That's a big call to make.

What makes life interesting, is that most people are not normal. Ask yourself, do you want to be normal? Would life then, just be a series of mostly boring experiences?
Most people are, in fact, just the opposite; eccentric, in some respects. Is it possible to be normal in some respects, and eccentric in others? Absolutely, yes.
Sometimes it can be beneficial (to society) to have an eccentric or normal viewpoint. The opposite, is equally true; sometimes it can be detrimental (to society) to have an eccentric or normal viewpoint.
Sometimes it can be helpful to correct a behaviour (either eccentric or normal) by being mean to them, because they refuse to consider a factual and logical argument in a civilised manner.
With that said, it is my opinion that we should refrain from from being rude or vulgar (or calling people 'names') in any circumstance. It is still possible to be mean to them without resorting to these types of usually ineffective tactics.
