When people get to know me, they ask me if I am gay. This has happened about five times. I get asked it more from people on Call of Duty and websites. I think it has to do with the way that I talk. Is it normal to be questioned about your sexual orientation?

It could be just that the people around you are coarse, lower class louts who equate that with being manly. Or perhaps you have a few qualities - being soft spoken for example - that some mistake as effeminate and wonder. If you like who you are, then why worry?
It's probably your voice if on COD people ask based on that alone, and they're not simply being dicks and referring pejoratively to the way you play (I get the impression a lot of COD players are the kind of people that would say "Oh my god you fucking faggot are you gay? You can't play this game for shit you faggy faggot fuck!" etc.)
Maybe you speak in an effeminate way?
I've come across a few guys that I thought were gay and they said they weren't. There was one gay that everyone thought was gay for years, and he was determined to prove them wrong. He probably wasn't gay. I've known him since the second grade, and I figure he was just very femenine.
But anyway, you're not the only one. There are a lot of guys that people think are gay, but aren't. Maybe you just are really femenine.
Being gay doesn't mean you speak and act like a woman, get over it. It just fucking means you love men. Nothing more, nothing less.

I know a few guys who I thought were gay and are not. Or say they're not....same for women some look like lesbians but are not.
You should record yourself and honestly see if you sound gay to yourself.
I love reading all the unhelpful answers on this page. To the poster I will say first off if you are a guy and say F.Y.I I am not gay. That is pretty fruity.
Secondly if you sound sweet or have a very soft voice and you are male they might think you sound like a homo. You might have characteristics of a women like gestures, or you may dress very clean but in a way that makes you look metro sexual and most people think that look is gay.
If you are not gay and they keep telling you just ignore it. If you want to try preventive measures I would say trying to dress more masculine and change the way you talk so you do not come off as sounding like a lady. If you are a girl do what I said from the reverse perspective.

I met a guy who I 100% Thought was gay! I even whispered to my bf (I think he's gay) And he wasn't!!! He was very skinny and he was a little flippant with his hands. But defiantely the thing that made me think he was gay was his voice. That has happeneed to me twice, both because of the voices.
I know a guy who plays C.O.D and he has kind of an effeminate voice. It is not just that his voice isn't very deep either, but it is also pretty soft. Even when he is yelling or really pissed off, it's difficult to take him seriously sometimes because his voice just doesn't have that edge to it. Even when he is speaking loudly, his voice is pretty soft.
Personally, I find it quite charming but I can understand why it would be considered gay because for many people, gay and "effeminate" go hand in hand. It's more normal than you think it is.
Fuck those people. People are always going to talk shit or something, especially guys. You know who you are and that is actually all that matters! :)
My best friend is a lesbian (a clear, butch lesbian), sometime I hear rumours saying I am a lesbian, too. I am not. I would say it is normal to get asked that depending on the circumstance. I could certainly pass for femme.
it shouldn't matter whether you're gay or straight. people who have legitimate reason to ask are people who are interested in dating you.
