Is it normal that a guy gave me his number without asking my name?

So this is what happened: this cute guy came into my work a few weekends ago and when I was checking him in we were super flirtacious with one another. For the rest of the night he would come and talk to me randomly and was pretty cool. Towards the end of the night, one of his friends gave his number to another one of my co workers and then the guy I was talking to left with his friends. A few minutes later, he runs back in and says "He couldn't be the only one leaving his number tonight" And gives me his number on a piece of paper.

Now I am completely foreign to dating and how it works, but from the way he dressed to the way he spoke to me, from my experience he was kind of like a player. Also I find it totally weird that he didn't even bother asking my name. Maybe I'm over analyzing everything but I have guy friends that I am comparing my situation with.

What I'm saying is that I need help! Should I text him or risk wasting my time and feelings on someone who's just looking for an easy girl?
