Hearts aren't always a sign of love. I am married and I send my friends hearts as a sign of affection, no big deal.

However, if I know that a certain friend has a girlfriend then I try to keep from posting that kind of stuff on his wall and I try to keep it out of our chat speak as well (some bitches be crazy, going through their man's messages and shit).

Yes, of course it's normal! Hearts have become a sign of affection, rather than love, so it's normal to send a heart, or using hearts when writing, to a person you care about, even if it's just like a friend. You could do the same with a family member.

Just note, that if it's making you feel uncomfortable, you should definitely let him know. Just tell him that you saw a girl posted a heart on his wall, ask him if it was a good friend of his, or this, or that. But don't interrogate him, that'll just make you seem like an overly jealous kind of person. If you show genuine interrest in who that person was, and at the same time express how you feel about it, there's no reason for him to become mad, or think that you're just being too jealous. He'll understand.
