Is it normal that .............

I have a job and go to school. Don't have a social life. The only people I talk to are people on the internet. To be honest I think I'm depressed and have been too depressed to try and make friends. In the past I had very few friends but later stopped talking to them. Is this normal?

I know how you feel :( I have the same problem. I just feel like sometimes people don't understand me or get me. I try sometimes but they just seem to ignor me. Don't worry one day I'm am positive that you will meet someone. Just try a little each day to meet someone. Male it a personal goal. Don't rush take your time and don't give up HOPE! :) all the best! xxx Luciana

I was in the exact same situation, now I don't even have people on the internet to talk to... :/ I just have my family, my boyfriend, and his mum. Which, I do love and appreciate them being there for me, but it gets a little lonely at times.

    • Pardon me for asking, but how come you don't have people on the internet to talk to?

        • Do you mean like on skype and such?
I myself used to have quite a few internet friends all over the world that I talked to almost every day. Now days however, I only talk to one guy in Norway every once in a while (+ I still chat with some that I met 4 years ago)

same here! I used to have lots of friends, then just my best friend, then lonely :/
I'm back talking to my bff but she's quite different, you know. And my "real life" friends don't quite get me + I am insecure which makes me act weird around them. I don't ever how to keep a conversation going lol

Aren't you in school to prepare yourself for the rest of your life? Couldn't you look forward to that life and imagine how great it could be?
On the other hand you should make an effort to improve what you have going now, within the framework of you present commitments. If you have the time to get on the internet, you have the time to volunteer at an animal shelter or homeless shelter. Even a few hours a week will give you a great deal of satisfaction and open your life to other experiences.
There are so many people on here just like you, who have settled into allowing the internet to be their major time occupier, while they could be out in the world doing something rewarding and fun. I believe inaction breeds depression.

    • your right thank you(im the op)yes my family and other bloodlines been stuck on the same land since 1800s incest is the reason their is many suicides within my family the reason why I only talk to people on the internet is because I don't want to become like the rest of my family(incest)if things go as planned then next year I will move to the city and become socialized again

Not having friends could be part of the reason why you're depressed. I have a hard time making friends too but it's healthy to have people you can talk to.
