Is it normal taking antipsychotics when i'm not psychotic?

I was once (well, more than once as I have a history of "mental illness") prescribed antipsychotics (zyprexa, risperadol) and have long since stopped taking them. I'm fine without them, the psychosis was just a temporary thing due to drug use. I know that when I begin taking these pills, I feel zombied out and numb. Plus zyprexa especially makes me fall asleep and stay asleep for a long time. Every once in a while, I'll have the urge to take a pill and make myself sleep and put myself in this zombified-like-state where I just don't give a shit about anything.
I also know that there are studies that show antipsychotics to be brain damaging, but when I'm in these moods I dont care about my well being and kinda just feel like sleeping forever anyway. Is this normal?

    Well I was misdiagnosed with a number of disorders and drugged for most of them and this was all proven wrong later. One insisted I had schizophrenia when I tried to tell them kids at school were beating me up but she said I was imagining it and so they wouldn't do anything about it. Many psychotic drugs are meant to mellow you out. In asylum they sedate patients. So if you say the meds are making you sick you probably don't need them or are given too strong of a dose.

      If you think you do have the disorder see if they give you a different dose, if you think they were wrong tell them to retest. Its possible they got the wrong diagnoses.

    Ive been taking zyprexa for years and it has the opposite effect on me. They make me feel more lively and alert.

    Don't all psychotics not taking their meds say, "I'm fine without them"? Sounds SO familiar, doesn't it?
    It does seems you are still in need of some professional help, "when I'm in these moods I dont care about my well being" as this is definitely NOT normal or healthy.

    I used to take anti-psychotics for severe mood swings and it severely impaired my motor skills.

    They will do damage to you if you abuse them. I wasn't abusing them and they still fucked me up. You need to get off that shit and get help.

    Zyprexa is especially horrible. It kills people (especially the elderly) and the drug company covered it up. Sounds like a classic conspiracy theory, I know. But it's a proven fact, they had to pay billions of dollars in settlements when they got caught.

    antipsychotics do have other uses other than strictly for persons undergoing a psychotic break. However, sounds like the off label usage is extending to serve a purpose other than "to sleep". FYI they wont really even work on a single use dosage and must be administered over days and weeks to work effectively. Also watch out for side effects, #1 is extreme rapid weight gain. they slow your metabolism to a hault and change a few liver pathways that cause HEAVY weight gain. That's why most patitents try NOT to use them. So be careful.

    Why don't you just take xanex or valium or oxycontin or drink alcohol, heroin, marijuana, charlie, MDMA, GBH, Tramadole, targen, ecstacy, bath salts, speed, meth, crack, nitrates, LSD, shrooms, butane, ketamine, solvants, PCP, salvia, DXM, mescaline.....or why not just do something with your life, you lazy cunt.
