Yes, don't worry, it's normal. It's called sleep paralysis. It happens when your entering a new state of your sleepiing wich is called REM (Rapid Eye Movements), it's the state when your dreams happen. The fact is that your consciouness at this time should be off but it is on, normally you would not wake wake up but you do. It's not a disease, many people experience that, the voices you hear are hypnagogic hallucinations, kind of a wake up dream. Just relax, it can be frightening but it's not abnormal. If it really bothers you, you can talk about it with your doctor.

It sounds like what you experienced was sleep paralysis. It happens when you're sleeping and you enter a stage called REM. during REM your body will actually be paralysed so your body cannot make the movements you make while you are dreaming. But when you experience sleep paralysis your actually conscious. I know it's scary. I experienced it a lot when I was younger and I would hear these really creepy sounds. It sounded like monsters. I would even feel some pain, I felt something trying to pull my leg. Although this was scary, it was all fake. It's normal, don't worry you're not insane.

Yes this happens to a lot of people even to me. The official diagnosis is sleep paralysis, but I kind of think it could be something else, for example many people say they find themselves paralysed prior to being abducted.
