Is it normal seriously confused about why life works as it does?

I am very confused about how life works, the "rules of life." For example, why is life NOT fair?
I was just watching this youtube video about the Colorado shooting. There were 4 boyfriends that were shot while protecting their girlfriends. But why did that happen?

I just feel...disoriented and perplexed by life. Bad things happen to good people, good things happen to bad people. My 2nd cousin was super nice and was killed when he was 18.

I am at a loss for why the universe works the way it does.

I think I heard a quote that went something like: "Life is a game and we don't know anything about it." That's sort of how I feel. We're all trapped in this crazy "game" and I'm genuinely confused WHY.

Does anyone else relate or at least know what I mean? Thank you .

Because good and bad, right and wrong, are abstract concepts that don't govern the universe.

I'm sorry for your loss. A few minutes searching the right things in Google will leave anyone bawling with the horrible things that happen everyday. It is the nature of existing with other humans. Stay strong and do something small every day to make someone else's experience better. "Hello how are you u look great today...etc" And you would have done your part. Don't ever let yourself think to negative. To attempt to answer the reason why is the very cause of many deaths (religious wars) and strife.

I think a large majority of bad things happen because people have free will and they misuse it.

  • It's because those types of things are random.
If it wasn't random everything would be pre-determined and if everything was pre-determined we couldn't have self-aware consciousness because that is what creates choice and free will. I don't believe karma is real for the reasons you stated. Humans have tried to justify why bad things happen throughout history when the simple answer is it's just random.

Life is full of random processes. If you bet against them you lose in the end. Be tough, protect your interests, help others if you can.

  • I don't think there are any rules of life. It just is, and you are right, it is not fair.

But even though there are no rules, I still like to think that everything happens for a reason we do not understand.

When a spider is in your bathroom, it doesn't know that it is in your bathroom, which you hired a contract to renovate because you hated the yellow wallpaper, and that you are a "human" who sees nothing wrong with killing it, that you chose little tiles over larger ones because they looked better.

Sometimes I wonder if we are the spiders to a higher power(s) we cannot possibly comprehend. Haha It sounds weird, but the thought is interesting to me...I am actually fine with being in a state of religious/spiritual limbo, not really knowing, being content that there may or may not be something out there higher than us.

What am I saying...Pshsshhs...Wow have I strayed off topic. Sorry.

I like quite a few of the answers on here.

Though life is the way you make it. If you view life badly then your world will be in the dark. Now if you see the good in all existence around you, your life would be pretty joyful.

I find life very joyful and exciting even when the bad things happen; that's if you call them bad.

Nobody will ever know what their future to come will be you just need to be prepared for it and realize that it's not going to be perfect. If you expect everything good to happen to you then you will never be happy. Now if you know that not everything will go your way and give more than you take then your life will be joyful.

Also you say good things happen to bad people while bad things happen to good people. It is also in reverse. There is good that happens to good people and bad that happens to bad people. Most people who cause bad things to others are not happy with themselves. That is why there is the saying: If you don't love yourself, then you most likely don't love others. The ones who do so much good for others are more joyful.

Life is a lot like toilet paper. You are either on a roll or you are taking shit from some asshole.
If you expect anything better, then you will have to make it happen for yourself. Choose to be bold and not a victim.

I am able to understand the world because of my faith in God and Christ. Let the hate flow!
