Is it normal self pity digusts me?

I really hate when people pitty themselves, I mean if you have a problem, do something about it! Complaining to the world isn't going to fix it. (Ironic because I'm complaining right now) I'm probably gonna get flammed for this but I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same.

  • Self pity disgusts me when they're in pity over something small or stupid, or something that they can get out of themselves. However, when they are in a situation in which they can't get out of on their own, then I can't say that I care, but it doesn't disgust me.

  • If someone has a problem it's not yours so it might not annoy you so much if you learnt to MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!!!

      That's retarded.
So someone shares their business with you and you're just supposed to mind your own business when they are trying to involve you in theirs?

Then you are being a callous asshole. Damned if you do or don't.

Self pity only bothers me when the solution is really easy to fix, or if, when you point out the obvious solution, the person who complains about it is really hell bent on not following through with this simple thing, and they refuse to try and think of another plan. I understand that sometimes people need to vent, but it bothers me when people get upset when others do anything other than suggest that their situation is totally and irredeemably hopeless.

Basically, complaining by itself doesn't bother me. It is disturbing and irritating when the person doing the complaining seems to like the idea of suffering way more than the idea of fixing things. And when they feel that way, it bothers me that they're complaining in the first place. On some level, they obviously enjoy the suffering they're in, so why do they bother whining about it?

I feel bad for pessimists. My life would be so terrible if I was that negative.

I honestly think that most of their problems would be solved if they stopped seeing the glass as half empty all of the time.

But then again, I have been accused of having a "Polly-Anna" complex. People tell me that it's because my life was too easy and I was too sheltered. I just let them think that, many people don't want to believe that you can have a fucked up life and still be happy.
