Is it normal rock paper scissors?

I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? Why can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating student as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody, a rock would tear that up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/ paper/ scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you....

    As demetri Martin would say, paper covers rock bitch, but rock is fine! No structual damage is done! Paper sucks. So, as demetri Martin would say, it should be: Rock, Dynamite with a cutable wick, Scissors.

    The paper represents a peace treaty. In Ye Olden Days, a treaty was left out on a rock to signify defeat. ^-^

    Dude, thank you for putting this up! I always wondered that, too! I mean, a rock is still a rock even wrapped in paper. I get that the scissor will cut the paper and the rock will smash the scissor, but you're right - what the hell does the paper do to the rock?
