Whenever somebody is single, I'm not jealous and i don't have feelings for them. But then I'll find out that they're in a relationship and all of a sudden they're just so appealing! I don't know why, but I develop crushes on people more often if they are taken.. Am I weird?
People cheat, so it's hardly what you can't have. Rather the initial relationship stages bring a lot of vibrancy and joy to a person which is always attractive, and it indicates to others that you are in some way desirable to someone else and not woefully single due to some crippling defect. People are very suggestible, imitative, and competitive, so what one person does/has may cause another to consider doing/getting the same.
It's normal. My ex complains that nobody wants him until he's dating someone steady. It's the whole "wanting what you can't have" thing. I see a similar thing happen with the kids. My daughter will see her cousin playing with her Cookie Monster and even though she hasn't given Cookie the time of day in weeks no other toy will make her right then. When her cousin finally drops Cookie she'll pick him up, toss him in the toybox after a brief inspection, and go play with something else. Poor Cookie. Sometimes I let him nap with me so he feels loved. ;-)
I think that's normal. Most of the time you want what you can't have and once someones taken you automaticly get that feeling of wanting them.
