Is it normal rap music makes me extremely self conscious?

My boyfriend listens to a lot of rap music. I can't help but hear the lyrics since it's always in my face. My question is: Does rap music make you super self conscious and anxious?

All the lyrics seem to be about " big booties, sucking dic*, boobs, whores, Bit""s, swearing, cheating.. etc..

For some reason I take a lot of offence to these lyrics, and it makes me self conscious.

for instance all the songs and videos have women with big boobs and butts and guys talking about them and how they like that kind of body.. I am a naturally thin athletic type of body.. ballerina sort of body, and I get so self conscious cause It seems like big booty and boobs are what makes people like these girls. I don't think I would take so much offence if my BF didn't listen to it.. but since he does it makes me feel he rather be with that type of women. It is swimsuit season coming up and I am getting self conscious to show my thin/ curve-less body. I'm really trying not to let it affect me, but it seems every girl I look at is curvy.. I never noticed till I started hearing this type of music.. and it's making me want more of a womanly body.

I guess I want to know if this makes any other girls self- conscious? Also do you think listening to this type of music could make my boyfriend subconsciously want a more curvy, or sexual type of woman?

Any advice would help.
Thanks!

Does he know you feel like that about it? It drives me nuts that its all about the jiggly booties and tits all over the place. Apparently, it appeals to a lot of people. I would not feel bad about my body if I were you. Especially when you said ballerina type, I'm a woman, but I have a little thing for ballerina bodies :) I actually have a stash of them under the bed, shhhh! Jk. But those legs, soooo sexy. Off topic, anyway... Be proud that your fit and trim. I don't think that the women in the videos are anything to get upset over. Ahhh, young love can be so tricky

its musical expression from the artists perspective, sometimes its meant to offend - plus not all rap is like that, tell him to open his ears&yours to the full extent of the genre
