Okay I have this friend he's a black guy and we partnered up to work on this project so he came over to my house so we could work on this project for school. Well my parents come in the door and they are shocked and I don't understand why because I told them I was having someone over to work on a project.
When he left they asked me why I didn't tell them. And I told them that I did say I was having someone over. And my mom said something that totally made me lose my respect for my parent she said 'Well why didn't you tell me he was black'. I was completly shocked that my parents would feel that way. I never noticed before then but they never had any black friends, and I hadn't either until him (I didn't know a lot of black people when I was younger, but when I got into high school I saw a lot more).
My parents told me that I wasn't aloud to do this project with him and I was no longer to hang out with him. And that I had to find someone else to do the project with.
I didn't listen to them I still hang out with him to this day (infact we are dating). And I did that project with him.
I still resent my parent for it and forever will. I just can't believe a parent in todays day would be so rasict so openly!
Is this norma? And has it ever happened to you?

    Parents are just people, the same as anyone else. They're no more or less likely to be racist than anyone else. It's always a disappointment when parents do something like this, though.

    It isn't normal. My best friend is Jewish and another is Mexican. And yet another is black. What's wrong with this? FUCKING NOTHING!!!

    That's horrible. Your parents should be ashamed of themselves! You go ahead and date that guy, girl. And leave your parent's home once you turn 18 or financially independent. Try to educate them and see if they change, but I doubt they will.

    Black people are viewed as bad because there are 7 times more blacks in jail than whites. The stereotype comes from somewhere

    Wow...My family always cringed a little when I would joke about bringing a caucasian girl home...I never dated one though...the ones located near dc are either scared or overweight..

    I know, I don't consider myself a racist, but I'm trying to understand why Muslims overpopulate Australia, the more I hate them the more they populate, they're like children. I'm trying to like them, but that hat is pure hate and I like the person I just don't like the hat. It's normal to hate certain races.
