Is it normal people put men at a higher level than women?

Yes, I still believe there's a stereotype which acts against women (perhaps because things are changing and people are making jokes to cope with change). I believe another stereotype is forming, though. People who say "Get to the kitchen and make me a sandwich" look a little backward. It's not even funny now as post-PC humour.

@mae94 very eloquent response. I see your point. All of your arguments are valid yet in either structure there is corruption. When there is many benefits to the traditional way of life " man works, woman stays home", there are also generally less options in life.
Free thinkers have transformed society into what seems to be (to them) the most fair way, by attempting to break the mould and promoting the idea of what (they think) is equality and freedom. (I agree with this wave of thought)
However, the traditional way of life still exists and is still available to anyone, really.
I think the problem with your mindset is that you think of life mathematically, calculating what is the best through economic and what you think culture should be. You classify feminists and hippies as a lower class and put the Asian way of life higher than the rest. This I have to disagree with, because it is simply close minded.
I believe the only thing you truly and honestly own is your life, thus you should have every single right do do whatever you please with it, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

I think it's the fact of the matter that even though the second wave feminist movement was so long ago, it takes longer to change people's attitudes. Online I'm sure a lot of that comes from young teens trying to sound "cool" or whatever the hell they do.

(Spend some time on reddit, it's hysterical. Guys constantly bitch and whine about being foreveralone but are oftentimes abusive to female posters, and then wonder why they can't find a girlfriend, or my favorite how they always get "friendzoned D:" Because if you're a good friend and a girl won't put out or is unable to feel the same way about you, she's a bitch, right?)

A lot of people don't perpetuate these kinds of attitudes. But the people who do tend to be heard more, tend to be louder about it. The extremists always get the most notice. The extremist feminists have also hurt this image, crying "Objectification!" every time a woman shows a breast or displays any sort of stereotypically feminine behavior.

The feminist movement went to being a fantastic battle for equality and somehow along the line degraded into a massive circle jerk.

I see the separation at my job quite a bit. We have had just as many women as men apply for open positions here in sales but only men have been hired. The job is high stress 65 hours a week, and the management here is of the opinion that "a woman can't handle the stress and the hours" which we all know is a load of crap. When I started here the best salesperson was a woman, and when we took on our current management she was forced out the door due to them ignoring some sexual harassment that was going on.

Some people are going to change, and some will resist the change. Time is on women's side though, eventually all the people who resist change will die off and leave our generation in charge!

I think that society is changing much faster than the individuals can adapt to.

I think the family structure in Asian cultures is the best , and changing it will cause big problems.
mothers need to raise their kids, and fathers need to provide stability and security as head.
i don't like feminist , i think they are arrogant and deluded, and selfish.. same as hippies type .. they don't see the big picture deeply and how it turns a good culture into a ruined and shameful one.

look what happened to USA since family structure changed. feminist plus weak minded men change the culture... it was not an improvement , they went from the most powerful and rich and free , to broken and most in-debt in the history of any country in the world.
they have just over 4% of the worlds population but 27% of the worlds prisoners ... its not a representative of freedom , its a representative of great failure and its collapsing.... its hurting the rest of the world very much too.

even in the simplest mathematical terms ~ no country has enough jobs for both men and women .. no family or children are better off with an unemployed father who has no pride ... its a corrosion of the family values, its dignity and strength ~ those family values took thousands of years to perfect, and endured history's greatest hardships.

everything associated with women is NOT lesser ~ its different, you can not ask the questions of equality without accepting the answer ... men and women are equal and always have been ~ but they are not equal in all things , a woman's strength is influence and nurturing , a mans is courage, tenderness, and sacrifice for family ... its holding true to tradition... a man will not sacrifice for a woman who isn't using her strength ... its a system where both man and woman ignite each-others strengths... part of the system is making him a great sammich in the kitchen :) ~ but if someone told you that its degrading and you shouldn't do it , ~ don't believe them, they are like lost lier's that try to exploit your ego, and they will destroy the quality of your life and culture.
