Is it normal people don't care about each other anymore?

Talking to people used to be less complicated. No matter how different our opinions were, there were some very basic believes that everyone seemed to agree upon. Like "Helping others is good", "Injustice should be stopped", "If people would be nice to each other, the world would be a better place". But today I find more and more people who embrace injustice; Who only care about themselves and are proud of it; Who have not the slightest desire to change the world.

I know there have always been people like that, but is it becoming normal and okay to do so?

    I'll never have anything to do with people who are so callous that can't even recognize their own callousness.

    I avoid them, like a plague. Because they are one. They infect you and turn you into the same monstrosity they are.

    And no this isn't directed at anyone on IIN.

    There never was a golden age of wonderful friendly caring people. Human nature has changed very little in the last several thousand years.

    I always say that to be happy one has to be a little selfish and I feel bad when reading this because I feel that you are somehow describing me. I don't do anything bad or anything but I certainly don't try to help people even if I'm in a position to.

      Sorry I made you fel bad.
      I don't do much either. But I constantly try to change and overcome my egoistic nature. And it sounds to me, as if you too are aware of your selfishnes, which is a great start, just keep moving.
