Is it normal patriot day turned into 4th of july?

Today is the anniversary of the fall of the twin towers. Normally my school just holds the flag at half mast and gives a moment of silence.

But for some reason, this year the cafeteria was covered with patriotic stars an those little shiny plastic ribbons that look like fireworks. It looked like it was 4th of July inside. I don't think I've ever even heard of a place decorating for 9/11 before I saw this.

It was awkward. All the decorations made it seem celebratory which is not what 9/11 is about. Is it normal my school decorated for 9/11?

    That just doesn't seem right.

I think that they are not decorating for the fact that millions died, more for the fact, that the horror is passed, and we are thriving from it.

  • Today is not Memorial Day. Today is 9/11 or Patriot day. Memorial day is the last Monday in May.

      • No problem. To answer your question, I think that it is silly for them to do that.
