Is it normal or harmful to eat raw oatmeal>

I eat raw oatmeal without it being cooked. Is this normal? Is it harmful? My thinking is that eating raw oatmeal puts good, much-needed fiber in your stomach. Does this make sense? Does anyone else do this?

well i guess its normal for you. but based on what most people do, no i do not think that is normal. im sure it wouldnt hurt you. how can oatmeal be raw? i understand what you mean but oatmeal isnt really cooked, you just pour hot water on it. a more accurate term would be "dry oatmeal".

I'm never sure if oatmeal is like porridge oats but I think so. If so, I eat oats raw (in muesli) but I also eat them fried. I know it sounds strange but if you use them instead of breadcrumbs on fried food you get a really, really crispy crumb with a little bit of sweetness you don't get from bread.

Deep-fried camembert in oat crumbs with raspberry coulis and a little salad. Yum yum yum yum yum.

you may find your stomach hurting if it expands a lot ...

i mean nothing like downing a cup of raw oatmeal only to have the fluids in your stomach soften it up and make it expand out...
