Is it normal or even right for my brother and i to do this?

its old news but,... my brother (1year older) and i got into a fist fight one night. fight started by me throwing him down to ground. Cause-he did not know when to shut up. He tweaked out my ACL and I split his eye. The fight eventually ended right?, its all done with.
OK, here it is //// He then decides to grab my $400 Remington rifle w/3-9x50 scope and smashes it over the asphalt till stock is splintered and barrel is bent 45degree ///
I actually found out a few days later, so I hit him up about it asking to get paid back. he says, "No, what I did was right, it was the right thing to do."
OK, we're young adults and family but, does that sound RIGHT?
MY dad tells me to forgive him and get over it, IS THAT RIGHT or am i normal for being angry?

    You hit him, he doesn't hit you because you're a female. I think it's only fair that he gets you back.
    Don't complain about this when all females complain that men shouldn't hit females back. Men deserve some way of getting back at females for hitting them.

      were brothers and we both got hurt. Destroying someones property is wrong man or women. /// for me, it took lit more than six 8hr days at work to get that.

        You two were fighting. Not sure why you were fighting but you were. No he should not have broke your rifle but you should not have been beating on your brother. By the way how old are you? Since you both sound really immature. Since you are apparently a child I cant say sue him for the money but an adult would sue if someone broke something that expensive in small claims court.

        He already knows it wasn't the right thing to do. He also deserves to have his ass beaten for damaging a perfectly good gun. If you have several more guns that he could possibly damage, I would suggest you send them to me for safe-keeping....

        Why did he take his anger out on your gun in the first place? I'm guessing it had SOMETHING to do with the gun (jealous, etc)
