Is it normal nothing shocks me anymore?

i think i have become numb/apathetic to the crazy shit that happens in this world. i can see a news article about a baby/kid getting killed, spree shootings or suicide bombings and i'm just like "oh, same ole same ole". does anyone else feel this way? is this what society has come to? that so much fucked up shit happens that it becomes the norm and you think nothing of it? or maybe i'm just cold blooded and black hearted?

Just because it doesn't shock you it doesn't mean that it doesn't scare you,'it's normal that you've gotten accustomed to stories , articles and videos of violence and the idea of death (especially violent deaths )as being be a fact of life, but do not get into your head that your Immune to emotions or empathy , just because you feel nothing reading a story doesn't make you stone cold. Remember that it's just a STORY it's not meant nor is it presented to you in order to make you feel something , it's put in a certain way to INFORM you ,not to entertain. People nowadays take the news to serious and feel like the media wants to scare you, like if they personally benefit from scaring people. If people got scared they wouldn't watch it anymore correct? you've become numb to the news , you've ever watch someone die from a violent death in front of you? You ever seen someone you care about being covered in a white sheet and thier blood staining the sheet and there blood making it so soaking wet that they need to cover it again , be glad you have emotions don't aim to not have any and don't take pride in not having any

No, it's not normal but I feel the same, but I prefer saying I've got a heart of stone and a black soul.

I just think that the stuff on the news isn't relevant or isn't shocking because I've seen it already this shit happens on a daily basis and is always on the news and if every time I get affected by it then I'll never really be able to let go and actually worry about other stuff.

For example if my friend got dumped, even though I wouldn't care cause she deserves better, if she was crying and I said to her 'It's not as bad as the stuff on the news, people are dying and you are moaning about your ex!' that would be cruel and even though I'm not one for kindness I still know that saying that would hurt her.

If we all get too into the news we wouldn't have the time or the sense of mind to think about anything else affecting our family and friends.

    Hope this helps,
    The Emo Chick xx

Does sticking your finger in a wall socket not work either? Have you tried switching yourself off and then on again?

I feel like that about news stories. If you weren't desensitized to that stuff, you would go insane.
But if something messed up actually happened to you or someone you know, you'd probably be shocked. And if you weren't or you didn't care, maybe then you'd be cold blooded.
