Is it normal not to wash with soap?

I tried an experiment in the hopes that I would prevent further damage to my skin. I decided not to use soap in the shower and also to switch from my normal lotion to a lotion with all natural products.{NOTE: I still used antibacterial to wash my hands after using the restroom... most of the time] As a result, my skin got wickedly dry and I caved but actually, not using products for grooming is apparently better for your skin, as for me, I'd rather give into big business than be an ashy mess. What about you? Do you think it's normal to not use soap in the shower?

The way I reckon, if you're not using soap it's not really bathing, but just rinsing off.

I've used a soap called Dettol for over 35 years. It is English and it keeps my skin clear of pimples, the red bumps from being wet a lot (like from swimming and diving) and has even stopped my hair from falling out, which it started to do when I found this soap.
    You can find it online.

It technically is normal NOT to use SOAP.
    Detergents are often used.

And let's not forget the 10's of millions of our human family that are so poor, so sick or needy, that soap, (let alone clean water) is a LUXURY.

About 5 years ago, I learned in microbiology class that it is healthier to use regular soap vs antibacterial soap. Look up some independent studies if you don't believe me.

I also give in to big name companies. I can't give up Dove soap bars. They are the only ones that make my skin soft.
