Is it normal not to feel anything when your father dies?

My father died sept 13 and he lived in florida while I live in Ca.. haven't seen him more than twice in over 20 years and spoken to him the last time maybe 7 months ago... so when I found out he died from a heart attack, I felt nothing. And I don't want to feel anything either! is that normal? ~Verlin

Well it might be normal. Maybe it's because he wasn't there for you many years, and that is why you don't feel anything. It's like not having a father. ---- I wonder why he wasn't there for that many years? ( you don't have to answer that)---

Some people are sociopaths, person. There is no explanation for it. If you are like me, you don't miss him for a reason. I have eliminated all of my emotions. Emotions make you weak. They keep you from understanding what is really going on. Forget about him, and everyone. You are already on your own. Everyone is.

As time passes, maybe you will be able to better come to terms with the feelings you had towards your father and you will be able to cope with the whole relationship. Sometimes our internal mechanisms 'protect' us from these unpleasantries. Good luck and I am sorry for your loss.
