Is it normal not to be sure if you could change for the better?

My best friend has criticized me a lot recently. About 80% of his words were absolutely true and I really appreciate his advice. I don't doubt in his good intentions and that he really wants to help me , as he did thousands of times. I doubt in myself. I'm not sure if I' be able to cope with all this.

I've never been convinced that people change themselves. I think environment changes people. Why is your friend trying to change you anyway, unless he thinks it'll make you happier?

    • No. Some people are not products of their environment, but of the aimless evolution of personal ideas. Such ones are the reserved, solitary individuals who are immune or nearly immune to the influence of human social psychology. They are the "weirdos".

        What is aimless evolution?

If you are evolving, doesn't that mean you are trying to reach perfection?

Or are you saying that those individuals live in their thoughts and do not react upon their environment?

You got it in you. If you heard that his advice was correct, and you really want to help yourself for the better, you will. You'll find a way. Just tell yourself that.

You can ask your friend to help you change for the better. If you believe man can change cheek with the flip of a coin you are mistaken. Change takes a long time.
