When I read fiction books. It doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I read, I am unable to remember what I read. I have tried writing details down when I read but it seems the longer the book, the worse I get. Is anyone else like this? I have an outstanding vocabulary and ability to read but not comprehend,

I usually have to re read some things several times before I can comprehend it
Tell a doctor or a therapist. It kinda sounds like that thing a lot of older people yet...whats it called? Ahh but u know that disease that makes u really forgetful. Not trying to freak u out but better safe than sorry :) cuz young people can get it too. (Ps i wasnt trying to be ironic by forgetting the name haha i really actually forgot lol)
There's no point in reading if you don't comprehend what you've read. Obviously, you retained some of what you read in school, so I doubt there's anything mentally wrong. More than likely, you're thinking about something else or just daydreaming when you're reading and just aren't paying attention. Or perhaps it's "what" you're reading, that is, something that you don't really find all that interesting.
I used to get like this in highschool when reading say a history book for homework. I could read a few pages and totally forget everything I just read, perhaps it's not reading material you really care to read
Are you enjoying the story? If I don't like the story much, I won't retain it very well.
