Is it normal never to have seen your own butthole?

I asked my boyfriend about this and he said he's not interested in looking at his in the mirror. He won't let me have a look at it, either. I've seen mine, and not to boast, but it was a lot less unattractive than I thought. We know what all the other parts of our (outer)body look like, so why not there. is it normal not to do so?
