Is it normal (natural) to hurt a baby?

My husband is not circumcised, a fact that took me a little while to get used to - my first lover was circ'd. When the first boy was born, it was a no brainer to leave him intact. I learned that cutting the foreskin removes approx 40% of the skin around the penis, thereby causing the head to be less sensitive later from chafing on clothing. Our second son was left intact as well. Neither boy ever cried when he wet his diaper, never had a problem teaching them to bathe properly. They both know they're special and lucky to have been spared the pain of surgery as infants.

I left my son intact, too. I did research and it didn't seem worth it. Haven't had anyway problems.

Circumcision existed because germs could get under the skin and this could cause disease.
Later religious people took it up as some type of ritual, but is was an accidental side effect to the first point I gave.

These days boys and men bathe with soap and clean themselves, pulling their foreskin back. ie There is zero need for it now.

By the way, as a mum to a small infant you should try to encourage them to clean themselves there, understandably difficult and the skin is usually joined anyway for some time, so don't just pull it back.
