Is it normal my vision will randomly start to go black?

I will be walking down our hallway or somewhere else like usual when my vision will start to go black. I'll start to loose my balance a bit and get a little dizzy. Just when there is only a small bit that's not black I'll go back to normal. I've never gotten seriously injured by this, though I did fall once. This happens once in a great while.

From what I've heard, once it goes it'll never go back.

I think I have heard that it could mean you are anemic or something. I used to have this when I was younger. You may have an iron deficiency or something.

That happens to me in the morning when I wake up real late and I accidently swallow some tooth paste. It makes me want to throw up but I can't really because I haven't eaten anything, that’s when I sometimes have this fainting moment. I try to control it every now and then but sometimes it’s impossible. One of them was because I missed the bus so I had to run to the 5th stop (taking a short cut that was about a lap and half). I reached there and once I got to school while I was in the line I fainted. It was pretty sad because I finally got my food and I knew it was coming. I even had to leave my backpack somewhere because it was too heavy, I tried regaining control and all of a sudden I fell with my food in my hand. It was a bad experience the security guard thought I was drunk, Ha-ha good time. Anyways it might be because you don’t have enough food in your belly, if you skip a meal that’s probably the reason why so remember to eat your food.

Maybe you don't eat enough? Low blood sugar?

I went to the doctors for that and they told me its a pre- fainting thing and they told me to have my salt and always have water with you I've done that for over a year and I haven't gotten them nearly as much as I use to

    • I figured it was pre-fainting, but I can always shake myself out of it. Did he say a cause for it, if you don't mind my asking?

it could be low blood sugar, it happens to me when I stand for a long period of time and my ears block kinda.

I have vertigo- an imbalance in the fluid in my inner ear. The fluid for balance. So, sometimes, when I get dizzy or light headed my vision will go black.

This happens to me all the time. It's usually after I get up from sitting down for a long time, just waking up, or going into a different room with different lighting.

You probably have low blood pressure. I have the same thing happen to me on occasion. If you're fine after, no worries.

It means you're about to faint. You need to eat more.

  • It happens to me all the time. I've fallen a few times before. I remember it happening once when I was a kid too. That was the worst time because I hit my head on the wall on the way down and couldn't move for a few seconds.
