Is it normal my personal trainer says eating more helps you losweight?

Hi, I've joined a gym and have been working out for two weeks. I've lost about 5 pounds and feel better. My new personal trainer surprised me this morning. She says I eat "nothing but garbage" (and yeah, she's right, but) and have been starving myself. I used to have anorexia and am diagnosed with it, but thought I was eating more healthily because I ballooned to 180 pounds! Instead, the trainer said my body is in survival mode because "it thinks you're starving it", and this morning she put me on a new lifestyle. She prescribed that I eat tuna, avocado, etc - but she wants me to eat breakfast, lunch AND dinner, and snacks in between, and there is so much food on the list, including morning protein shakes! It sounds like so much food! It doesn't make sense to me to eat MORE FOOD in order to lose weight... seems like it would be the other way around. So who's right, me, or the trainer?

    Your trainer.

Eating food in the morning kick starts your metabolism to help people lose fat. The small snacks in between meals, helps keep your metabolism going.

As long as you are eating fruit and and not crackers and biscuits and carb loaded crap, you'll be fine :) The protein shakes are there to help repair and grow muscle, making you stronger.

The biggest problem is everyone says "They want to lose weight" weight really isn't a issue, really people should say they "want to lose fat, get toned and be healthier"

And eating small meals throughout the day is the best way to lose "weight"

    Trust your trainer :)

Only way to lose weight is too have a calorie deficit. Take your maintance calories for a day and subtract about 200-500 calories from that. You can increace your maintance calories by working out more.

It depends on what you eat maybe more so than how much you eat.

Buy frozen fruit! I am 5 4 and 109 pounds and I eat it all the time! Your body also burns more calories than eating regular fruit in order to process the cold food! And power walk on the highest incline I burn twice as many calories as running 9-10 minute miles!!
