Is it normal my mums asks me what she did wrong?

I've been a drug addict for 10 yrs. My mum keeps asking me where she went wrong and how she can be a good mum to me. I tried to detox on my own an she says stuff like it's make or brake time. I love my mum heaps but she makes me feel guilty asking me these things. Is it normal that my mum asks/says these sorts of things? I'm in my 30's btw.

Firstly Detox is proven not to work. THere is no trial (that is not obviously flawed) that supports its use.

On topic. It's fairly normal. She thinks she has failed, but she doesn't know where she went wrong and is confused.

Mums do that. Just keep reassuring her it was never her fault, and you don't and won't hold her accountable.

  • She feels guilty that you're a drug addict.
