Is it normal my friend thinks i'm a snob?

I live in an affluent city outside the Twin Cities, and all my friends at school think I'm a rich snob because I live in this city. I'm not by any means rich or wealthy, but people think I am just because I live in a town notorious for having wealthy residents. I'm really getting sick of them calling me a snob, even though I've told them countless times that I'm not. Is it normal that my friends call me rich, even though I just live in an affluent city?

    People are weird. I used to get it at school even though my family was poor enough that I once went to school with a shoe that didn't have a sole (it had fallen off and there was no money to replace it for a couple of weeks). It's something in the way people perceive me. They think I'm looking down on them, or something. I've never worked out what it is that makes people think that, but people do still think it.
