Is it normal my friend does this

So my friend thinks he has a fiancee that is a supermodel...even though shes not even real. he has gone around telling everyone about this fake girl, and has even engaged himself to this girl, he has made a facebook page for her and married himself to her. He claims she is russian so that is the reason we've never met her...idk if i should believe him because his mom even claims she's not real..he claims she came on a student visa and had a child and got married and a divorce, but her parents back in russia don't even know this...recently he has claimed she has committed suicide.even thoguh i sent her a facebook request and she accepted when she was supposebly dead. He said her funeral was in Russia which is why he couldnt make it. But he said he was with this girl for 18 months but doesnt know her e-mail, phone number, father, mother, nor their numbers. I don't think it adds up what should I do?

Not normal, your friends is just seeking for attention.

Or he could have some mental disorder.

a good friend of mine used to tell everyone she had a boyfriend in china when he suddenly was 'murdered' by a gang and only his finger was found. then she asked me if it's possible to marry someone who's dead.
    that was so awkward.
she only wanted attention, i think it's the same case here.

i was like 14 when she told me and she was talking about being raped and suicide i was so damn worried about her.
i wasted my time because i was too naive, but i can't figure how someone can possibly imagine such a story and then tell her friends and leave them with their worries.

sounds like he had a mail order bride

And if she exists.... she could be a model but not a supermodel.

Supermodels ... you'd know who it is.

But a regular model - eh, that's possible.... mainly because the only requirement for it is that you claim to be a model. (although to be a *successful* one you have to do a lot of hard work)

I know a guy like this, he would always tell people I was his gf and that we dated when we were younger though that is completely false, our moms were just best friends and I thought he was my cousin and his mom my aunt for many years. Needless to say he is a little mentally slow and seems your friend may be too or not know how to deal socially with people.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Force him to start dating in REAL life! Um, but make sure he's not crazy first o.o..

thing is...i think he might've made it up bc no one wants 2 date him in real life. he's one of those that decides he likes every girl just 2 have a shot with anyone. then, when he gets some interest, latches in tight.

Either he wants attention or he has some kind of mental problems. If she was real I'm sure you & his family would've met her, and she can't still be on FB after she's dead (unless someone is using it for her lol). Are there pics of a real girl on her FB? Even that doesn't mean she's real, he could've Googled pics of Russian models.

This reminds me of the movie Lars and the Real Girl. Only, Lars was with a mannequin instead and no one he knew had the heart to tell him that she wasn't alive. I think your friend has a neurological disorder. There've been time where I've become disillusion about something, but I've never made a person up...

As much as it may sound stupid, he might be going through an ID crisis. He hates his boring role in society as an average young man so this is his possible ticket to being respected. I would say its pretty normal unless he takes it even farther which I don't know how he could do that.
