Is it normal my friend can't hold on to money?

My friend can't help but spend any money he gets almost instantly. All year round I buy him alcohol and food, (He's my best friend) what's mine is ours. Then when he gets some money instead of returning the favor, or before he can, he spends every dollar. Then next week I'm back buying him beer and food. It's not necesarily I want him to spend his money back on me, but just for me to have a while where I only have to spend money on myself for a couple times. Usually his thousand dollar tax money goes in 4-5 days. How can I get him to SAVE money for our good drinkin at the bar times?

He's your Best Friend. Just tell him, "Hand it over, douche bag, I paid the last 200 times." Then tell him you love him, but... seriously, Hand it over.

Sorry but I was in the same situation. The only way is to STOP paying for him. Make him realize that if he can't afford it he can't have it. Bottom line he's taking advantage of u and it's not fair.

He never will its something you have to be taught when you are young. I save everything I can(but I do buy some toys when I go for so long) I started working for a landscape company at 13 by the time I was 16 I bought myself a 6,000 truck. Today im 18 going to school(working 2 days a week since its slow) But I have been living off 300.00 for the past 2 weeks thats gas and weekend money. Pretty nice so far be even better when I start my new full time job making 23 a hr

Not really anything you can do to make him save his money, really the only thing you can do is suggest he do different things like set aside a small percentage somewhere and don't touch that money or put a small amount in a bank account or something similar to where he doesn't have the will to spend it.
