Is it normal my family isn't concerned about this?

My mum always goes through my things/room and when I get annoyed with her she tells me it's normal that she does that and she has a right to because she's my mother.

She's never really listened to me, she's always just assumed I like certain things and signed me up for things (like netball instead of soccer) I don't want to do even though she knows I don't want to do them.

Once my dad even told us that when my little brother was a toddler he wasn't strapped into his high chair properly and she freaked out and pulled the back of the chair towards her so he fell forward, his head hit the table and he had to have stitches.

Of course she does do nice things for us too but everyone else seems to be taking these things as jokes, and they're not concerned at all. Is it normal they're not concerned?

Unless you pay rent on ur room ur mom has every right to look through your shit. So ur mom accidentally hurt ur brother once, get over it. That woman birthed you and has taken care of you ur whole life. Be happy that you have a mother who is even involved in ur life. Plenty of kids are beaten or abandoned.

There is a simple solution to your problems: get a job, pay for your own place to live and don't give your Mom a key.

Alternatively - if you're, like, thirteen or something - grow up enough to accept that you live at home with your parents and therefore your life is not entirely your own to control. Reality will bite you hard when you do leave home and you discover all the crap that you haven't even had to think about since your horrible parents have been taking care of it on your behalf.

Oh, and call Child Protection immediately about the high-chair incident. It's obvious your Mom is an unfit parent. Good parents are super-human and they never make mistakes or accidentally hurt their children.
