Is it normal my eyes are swollen almost every morning from allergies?

Pretty much every morning my eyes are swollen. Some days are better than others. I have kept track of weather, allergy, food I eat and nothing is different that could cause less of swollen eyes. Is this normal? And if anyone knows how to help me please tell me. I have tried almost everything already!

Chamomile teabags are the best thing for swollen eyes. Don't put them on when they are just out of a boiling cup, but once they've cooled slightly drain the exces water off and lay down, placing the teabgs on your eyes. Once they've gone completely cool, redip in water if you require more, if not wipe with a clean cloth and your eyes should be good after that. I hae had serious issues since I was a child with allergies to pollen, grass, fine animal fur, duck/goose feathers and some perfume and when my eyes flared up this is the only thing that worked. Natural and safe. My grandmas remedy for curing hayfever and allergies :)

WASH YOUR PILLOW CASES! This is a major cause of "morning allergies".

Actually, weather sometimes doesn't affect allergies. It could just be the change of season, with different plants growing, Asthma, perfume, detergents, etc. If not, it could be caused by pets, usually with included occurrences of itchy, watery eyes. I would say it's relatively normal, but if you have tried a number of medications without success, then consult a doctor.

Have you tried taking allergy medications? There's claritin, zyrtec, and now allegra over the counter. Xyzal is another one now available in a generic that is prescription only. For best results though you need to take them daily.

I used to be severely allergic (to the point where I was effectively blinded) to various things and there are still some things which bring about a strong reaction in me.

Keeping a diary is a good first step but you've already tried that and got nowhere. The next step should be to get an allergy test. A doctor will put something like six compounds on your arm. Based on the results of that, you should get a broader feel for what "type" of thing you're allergic too. It'll make detection easier.

As final advice, try sleeping in a hotel for one night. Eat what you normally would. Wear what you normally would. Use the same shampoo/cosmetics etc. If it happens there, it's liable to be something in your daily routine. But if it doesn't happen there, you've really got to start looking at your pillows, mattress and bedding.

Sometimes the cause remains unknown, to combat an allergy attack you have to take the tablets before it happens. Try taking them every 6 hours, even in the night.

It seems as if something in your immediate environment is causing the allergic reaction. Since it happens while you are sleeping, something like dust or bed mites may be the cause. I use a mattress cover and I got rid of the carpet in my bedroom. It made a world of difference.

I was going to suggest dust mites as well. I saw a news report a week or so back about how many people are allergic to things in their own home that are nearly impossible to get rid of permanently, especially dust mites.

good advice! Years ago i discovered that the type of pillows I was using were the cause of my night time allergies.
