Is it normal my brain doesn't tell me when to stop eating?
To avoid confusion, here's a few details about me:
- Male
- 21 years old
- 5'8", 139 pounds
- I've been eating five times a day for the past seven months (Three medium-sized meals; two small-sized snacks)
About three weeks ago my best friend invited me to dine at a buffet. I had several plates of food (mainly seafood, vegetables, and noodles), yet by the end I didn't feel full. Another thing to note is that whenever I bypass my sugar, sodium, or protein intakes by a bit (I almost always follow the daily recommended value for each), I eat an excessive amount of food afterwards. Yet again, I don't feel full. Depending whether or not there is an occasion, I may feel guilty.
I'm not worried about becoming fat because my usual eating regimen balances out all malnutrition, but I'm worried my body will always prioritize satisfaction over stomach capacity, hence ignoring all signals from my brain.
So, is this normal?
