Is it normal my boyfriend is making friends with criminals?

My boyfriend and I are very straight edge, he's Mormon and my family and I are atheist and we have very strict moral standards. My boyfriend is part of a group that helps tutor and pay for inner city people through college and a lot of the guys he has to hang out with are really sketchy and are probably all in gangs. We just graduated college a year ago so we're really close in age to these people.

My boyfriend has become friends with this one guy who I know and he knows to be on drugs. Like hardcore drugs. Yet he still brings him over to the house and they act like buddies and watch football together. It's terrifying having this addict in my house and I want him gone. What do I do?

    What exactly is the problem here? Unless the alleged addict is shooting up in your house or behaving in unacceptable ways, what harm is being done? What's so terrifying?

    So you think their in a gang because you think they look sketchy and the one guy is an addict but if hes not bringing drugs into the house whats the problem. You should re evaluate your priorities to stop assuming things about people and being so damm judgmental

    If innocent was a person... that would be me. Coming to college I made friends with a bunch of guys, all of which use hard drugs, consume alcohol and abide by promiscuous activities all the time.

    I don't get involved.

    They are lovely people, your husband may even help this person overcome their addiction. So, YES it is normal. Please accept this man into your life, that does not mean abiding by his customs or addictions.

    It sounds like you could be so sheltered that what you're talking about is actually harmless. Not sure though, from what are you drawing the conclusions that these people are in gangs, also what drugs, and from what are you drawing the conclusions that he is addicted?
