Is it normal my boyfriend already talks of breaking up

in three years time my boyfriend plans to go abroad for a year. When talking about this he said we'd probably have to break up because of the extreme long distance. I know it's 3 years into the future and I hadn't even thought about us having a relationship lasting for years but i find it weird that he know's we'll break up and it makes me think whats the point

    He's not kidding himself and neither are you. Bottom line you're both under the impression it wont last. Why is it hurtful for him to think so when essentially you think the same thing?

    If he is sure that he is going to go away for a year and is going to break up with you, then break up with him now while you are not too attached it will only get harder in 3 years time.

    He has got a point, once he leaves the country you two wont be able to stay a couple..
    but if he's saying "be my gf till I travel abroad" then tell him "No thanks!" he's probably just using you.. He has got a point tho, your relation ship wont last long if he's too far away from you.. it's only smart to break up.
