Whenever I enter the is it normal Members Chat, I'd see like 3 or 4 people online but nobody would talk or type anything...
Does anyone else notice this?
sure thats normal but it depends on who is in there. if the chat is filled with creepy kids talking about having sex with their pets or sisters then generally i wont join in that conversation. most times those people actually kill the chat conversations and when they leave, the chat goes back to normal.
but the chat regulars arent there to entertain other people, if you want to chat then type something and someone will respond. some people are a bit reserved when new people pop into the chat, especially those that come in and leave all the time and not say anything. that screams "creep".
so dont come into the chat and just sit there and wait for someone to say something. say hello, bring up a topic of conversation and see where that takes you.
It also depends on what time you're there. As auss said, we're not there to entertain. I dislike when someone says hello then leaves...or says "i'm bored." Bad vibes.
Damnit, I don't have IIN Gold so I don't have the privilege to chat...yet. :D
You don't need to have IIN Gold to use the chat, all members have access to it as long as you've been a member for a certain amount of time / contributed to the site a certain amount of times.
You should be able to use it now if you'd like, or probably in a few days / weeks if you're new.
There's now a quality component to the participation requirement. We have a backend system that looks at how many of your posts and comments are approved and/or rated well and gives you a score. New users that don't amass a positive score will not be allowed into the chat. So, join IIN and just contribute crap and you're not allowed in. Older users have been grandfathered in despite their participation scores.
Today was the first time I have ever been on there so I haven't noticed any trend yet.
I'm always signed in / on via my phone, so I think my name may be one of them that you're talking about. I've never actually joined in on a conversation before though.
Im always too shy to start talking anyway, so I normally don't go on member chat.
whats you name, that way if i see it in there i can ignore you lolol, jk
