Is it normal losing hair on accutane

I'm on a 5 month trial of accutane for my acne and my hair has started falling out quite rapidly. It's really upsetting and worrying. Is it because of accutane? Has anyone else had this problem? What happened to you on accutane? IIN?

From what I remember when my friend was put on accutane by his dermatologist, hair loss was a potential side effect. He was told, if it happened and was severe enough to bother him, he should immediately make an appointment and come back in to speak about other options. Maybe you should do the same?

I really can't believe this medication is still on the market.

Go back to your doctor and tell them what is happening.

idk much about accutane, but i've heard it's some powerful stuff with fairly common side effects.

I did the 5-month program of Accutane and I didn't encounter that side effect, but my dermatologist did mention that that was a side effect. I'd say definitely go see the person that prescribed you Accutane and talk to them about alternative methods.
I know there are many possible side effects to Accutane, a couple of the most dangerous ones being depression and liver damage (the latter is the reason you have to get your blood tested every month). I fortunately didn't experience any of those and Accutane worked wonders on my skin.
I hope you're able to prevent any more hair loss if you do continue with Accutane. It really is a miracle product if everything goes well.
