Hello for the sake of this please call me Fred. No that is not my real name I stole it from my parents I am living with my uncle he is my legal guardian I am not saying why that is but that’s beside the point. I am 19 I can not find a job I have searched for 3 years no one is hiring I am by no means being lazy please do not assume that is the case. I am from the USA I do not come from a poor family but my family is going poor because of Divorce, debt, so on. I posted this question on yahoo and got a bunch of useless answers most of them saying I should go on aid but do not explain how or that im just lazy and should go get a job. WHICH I CANT!

Those aren't friends but bullies. Maybe you should study some more until the crisis is over. Double win.

Well Fred, it's normal that you can't find work. In times of economic hardships, the availability of jobs often becomes scarce. If you lack certain skills, people will be more reluctant to hire you.

        • My friends are useless they all have work and do nothing but laugh at me and say what a complete loser I am because I can not get a job. They say well "tough" have fun with that loser. I know a bunch of A***holes. The ones who are not working are focusing on school or other ventures. I have little to offer a company though.I am very good with kids but I do not know if that helps.

You could try volunteering somewhere to build your resume and develop contacts. And don't forget to check out temporary work.

    Good luck!

You need to work on your communication skills. Your opening says you are 18 but you are 19 in your story, which is it? If you are so willing to post discrepancies like that online, then maybe you need to look over yourself and your resume to see how many discrepancies there are there.

And yes, it is normal. There is a large percentage of folks in the US that are unemployed, and I think that part of it, for young people, is because they are looking into retail and fast food jobs and not into much else. The retail and fast food industries are saturated with applicants.

Look into the Security field and see if there are any openings to be a security guard anywhere. I don't know where you live, so I can't give you any companies to look for but do a google search "hiring security guards", or "security companies" and type in your address. Of course, change the google search terms, I shouldn't have to explain how to do that and if I do, you have more problems than just certain unemployment.

A lot of people don't realize that security is a growing industry and many companies are hiring anyone that is willing to do the training and show up to do the work. It doesn't require any special experience, just training that any 3rd grader is capable of. As insurance costs rise thanks to growing regulations, more real estate companies are utilizing security guards as a means to lower insurance costs. For someone like you, it wouldn't be the best paying job and the hours wouldn't be as nice as you'd like, but hopefully you're not like the other pansies that I have referred the job to who claim to be desperate but not desperate enough to work graveyard shifts 5 days a week.

Also, you will need to submit your prints to the DOJ and have a clean criminal record. If you have ever been convicted of any crimes, you can not get a guard license. I don't know which state you live in, but here you need a guard license. It may or may not cost you money, depending on the company you apply for (some companies are willing to get you the guard license for free). But you're an adult, I'm sure you can figure it out. If you can't, then, once again, maybe you're not ready for the work force.

Bottom line: Look into security, and while you're at it, try looking into college or trade school programs. Unless you're exemplary at the job, you won't get much more than that without a degree of some sorts. Good luck.

I'm on the same boat. Except I'm a little younger. The best advice I can offer is to just keep putting out your resume. Connections are everything nowadays, so if you know anyone who can get you a job take advantage of it. Good luck.
