Is it normal if you get fat by drinking too much coffee and alcohol?

I eat healthy but I'm addicted to coffee, especially lattes! So that means extra fat, the sugar, etc. I also drink in the weekends and mostly beer...I love beer. I haven't worked out in a while like I used to, I go like once a week to do cardio. So I am just wondering, can I get fat just by drinking too many lattes and beer? even if for the rest of my meals I eat good, mostly protein. I try eating carbs once a day. When I am drinking it especially the coffee, I feel like my belly is getting chubbier and my thighs with more cellulite. I don't know about drinking cause I only do in the weekends but I still drink a lot of beer.

Latte's don't have sugar. A latte is basically steamed milk and espresso shots... unless ofc you add the sugar in yourself.

Exercising is good for you, it will help you stay in shape, and healthy.

That really depends on your metabolism. But yes, basically you can gain weight by consuming coffee and alcohol.

When I was drinking beer like everyday, I definitely on quite a bit of weight. After I stopped I lost a lot of it. Coffee isn't too bad if you take out a lot of the creams and sugar...unfortunately those make it delicious. Lol

I don't drink coffee that often. I have drank black coffee though. You could try that and maybe try a less calorie filled alcoholic beverage like Vodka.

Not bad! Fuck knows what my Liver is like though LOL! I now make my own Vodka if you need to know how message me. Good luck!

I doubt coffee contributes but beer definitely does. I have the same drinking pattern as you and got the proverbial beer belly for an otherwise normal weight and BMI.

  • Of course it is possible to get fat from drinking beer and starbucks. Beer is just empty calories. A typical healthy diet should be around 2000 calories day. Lets say you eat about that amount in just food. Knowing that most beers are about 100 to 200 calories a piece and you drink 6 throughout the night thats about 600 to 1200 empty calories added on to what youve already eaten throughout the day. Alcohol also drastically slows down the metabolism. You should expect to gain weight.

How about an ulcer? You can probably get one of those. Do you smoke too? Cigarettes always make everything better. At the very least you should be able to get acid reflux.

Alcohol in a high enough quantity blocks your body from being able to use fat as an energy source.

Coffee (black) has no calories and the caffeine usually speeds up the metabolism. Most coffee drinks can consist of lower calories and what not depending on where you get the drink (like an Italian restaurant in London) or if you make it at home. However, places like Starbucks are very unhealthy. Their drinks contain a lot of sugar, oils (?!) and fat/cholesterol,etc These factors can be further worsen depending the type of drink and the size you get. When I used to drink Starbucks, I was thin but probably not as thin as I am now. Their coffee did give me the runs and relieving your bowels can make you lose some weight and decrease bloating.

Beer can make you fat but most of the "fatness" seems to be from being bloated. What you could do is switch to wine. Studies have shone that people who drink wine tend to be thinner and healthier then people who don't. It's recommended to drink one glass by some but the accepted amount seems to differ among cultures.

Coffee has almost no calories in it. It's all the other crap that you add to it that's the problem.

Beer has a lot of calories too.

Just stop eating and drinking so much crap. A few beers is okay, but not like ten in a weekend. And exercise more too. Once a week is hardly getting any exercise at all. That's probably more of a problem than the diet.
