Is it normal if we can't get it in?

We're both virgins, early 20s, and sexually frustrated. It's annoying because nothing is in our way of having sex except our lack of experience. We've tried two times already and we can't get it in. It almost seems impossible like wow this is going to be harder than I thought not to mention more painful than I thought :/ anybody has similar experiences or at least suggestions? We wanna do it already! We get in the moment w foreplay and everything but then we try and our mood goes down because it's harder than we thought.
