Is it normal if the affection in only dating slowly fades away?

I have been dating this guy and in the beginning (well what basically made me actually consider him), we would hook up but only oral and man, he does such a good job. But anyways, its been a month and a half ish since we started "dating" and we've been going out, just getting along so well, we make each other laugh, etc. Last night was the first time I went to his house though, since like 3 weeks ago. Usually as said before, we would easily hook up like we couldn't help it but this time, not so much. We didn't hook up but just made out, humped a little while he was rubbing my butt underneath my clothes and that's it. I thought we were going to hook up like before and it was going to be even more intense because we know each other more than before. I was and still am very confused. I feel like hooking up is not as special anymore? because we've gone a little beyond the affection in terms of actually getting along with one another? I don't know if this is supposed to happen especially that we're only dating, we're not even official yet. I understand marriages lose that umph in sexual activities as the years go by but uh this is clearly not even in the first chapter. So I want to know, is this normal?
