Is it normal if some art teachers are arrogant?

Okay, my former music teacher was very arrogant! And he's careless. No student like him. Old, hideous, and arrogant.but he's good on recorder, guitar, piano, keyboard, and may be violin..
He told his student to learn how to play recorder.. So far, okay. He show us how to play the song.. But he play too fast and he add his own variation. Come on, this school is not a music school..
I hate him. He will just sit and busy with his laptop in the class then he will give us assignment.
So far I have found 5 people (including him): art teacher, and arrogant..
Very annoying!

Is it normal??

Because, I wanted to be a musician or pianist or something else with music/arts..
I don't want to be hated like him..

Both my art and music teachers were dreadful. The music teacher just hated the entire world and took it out on his pupils. Small-time Dr Cox. He set us an assignment to talk about an original piece of music we'd spot in a TV programme or film. Next week, he read them out. He made fun of everyone in a nasty, angry way. To one boy's assignment he said, "I wouldn't wipe my arse with this crap" and then through it out of the window. To me, he made a pun out of my surname to make it sound like a rude word. To my friend, he implied it wasn't worth him teaching her because she'd be pregnant at 14 anyway.

The art teachers were just posh and mean and treated us and our families like third class citizens because we came from a poor area of the country.

I know what you mean. They think that art, and the role they play in contributing to it, is some glorious gift.
Sorry- I've got a scientist's brain. I could give two shits about sloshing primary colors on a canvas and calling it modern art. I appreciate it, but dont understand it.
Music is music. Art is art. Science is everything.

All of the art teachers in my school are lovely! Don't really like the substitute one right now but she's still nice! Only have her at the moment because my super nice art teacher is on maternity leave. My music teacher's nice too.. in fact most teachers are nice in my school! I can't think of any arrogant ones...

Anyhoo, even though none are in my school, it's normal for teachers to be arrogant, in my old school I hated all of the teachers because they were arrogant!

Skilled people are arrogant. Philosophers with PHDs and brain surgeons get arrogant too. The most important thing is that you learn a lot from your teacher and your time isn't wasted.

I've had a teacher or two that i wasn't fond of but i can look back and realize that they never wasted my time, I'm grateful. And I've had teacher that i wasn't fond of that also wasted my time and brought nothing to the table

So sorry for all the bad art experiences. I've had amazing music teachers. All but one. He didn't like me because I refused to march and that meant he lost a strong player. (however he never actually saw me march and would likely have changed his mind) I was taught the arrogance of symphonic music and we belittled the marching band. So I can see why you feel the way you do. However I dropped out of his class and just to spite him, I continued to study independently. Imagine my satisfaction when I got to tell him I was traveling to Israel and Jordan with my music-and didn't require his help at all.

Again, I'm sorry for contributing to the arrogance factor. I think that sometimes people express their passion in arrogant ways. And artists are full of it.

But I don't think science needs to be segregated from art. The mixing of colors to create a new color is very scientific. And sacred geometry is some of the most beautiful features of nature. Science can be pretty.

  • I love art but I know what you mean and I used to be slightly scared/in awe of/annoyed by my former art teacher.

Now I realise he was the most awesome person ever and supremely talented, so I feel honoured to have been taught by him.

You should meet him, and you will know.
This teacher, show my classmate an email that he receive from his friends. Guess what inside that email.. Xxx pictures inside.. Weww .. it was at the last music class session that day.
Then, my friend report him to the headmaster.. She told everything about the picture she saw, and also this lazy and arrogant teacher.
Now, I'm with new music teacher. So-so
