Is it normal if my mom spends more time with her "other family"?

This is a problem that my friend has and i do not know how to resolve it.

So my friends mom always goes on business trips all the time b/c she is a businesswoman. one day my friend overheard her mom & dad having a conversation in there bedroom. They were talking about her mother visiting her "other family". My friend found out that her mother is married to someone else and she has kids by that person too. & on top of that my friends father is okay with it. She doesn't know if she should confront her mom & dad about it. Is this normal?

    She should ask them about it. It may likely be a mis-understanding if she was only listening at the door. Her mother may have another family from a previous marriage that she does not want to tell your friend about. Or it could just be a joke - my parents make jokes about them having affairs with in-animate objects that take up too much of their time. Such as my dad's sportscar - we call that 'the other woman' or my mother's cell phone is 'the sugar-daddy'.

    Your friend should definately comfront her parents. It's her mother, she has a right to know.

    Well,she can't split herself in two just to spend the same amount of time with each family.Can she?
    So I guess it's normal. Why would your friend wanna spent more time with his mom?I spent my whole youth trieng to get rid of her without succeeding and this friend of yours is complaining about his absent mom.Who cares!You got the house all for yourself.Throw a party!Wiiiiiiii!

    Omg! The EXACT SAME THING is happening to my friend! Except it's his dad in the other family, and when his mom found out they got a divorce. My friend wants nothing to do with his dad, but he won't stop following my friend's mom, and stalking them. It's bad. Well I hope things work out for your friend.

    I say this friend of yours needs to have a sit down talk with the parents. That's about all the advice I can give. If I was in that situation I would want to know, and meet this other family.
